ToadWorks
Li'l Leo American Overdrive Pedal
The ToadWorks Li'l Leo is a guitar effect pedal that emulates the crisp, clear overdrive of yesteryear. The goal was to find that delicate line between smooth distortion and crunchy noise that you get from a black face "Super Reverb" on 11 - loud & proud, perfectly smooth break up with just the right amount of power and punch. Li'l Leo has been tested and used with a wide range of amplifiers, including tube, solid state and hybrid. If a true blue, classic American overdrive is what you desire, Li'l Leo has your name written all over it. Every combination of guitar and amp will have a slightly different eq, output, etc., and the sound will always vary to some degree, so expect the unexpected. This pedal nails the ballsy, aggressive overdrive that defined the birth of rock & roll, yet remains transparent enough that your unique guitar sound shines through. Leo would have been proud. So will you. What's so great about it? Flavor Those were the days... Saturday afternoons at the ballpark. Sundays playing doctor with the girl next door. For the rest of the week, school was just a blackboard jungle, and you were too young to drink, so it had to be rock & roll. Back when Orange County was know for the oranges, a man named Leo started a revolution in the music world, igniting generations of young men & women to turn their angst into sound. Li'l Leo has that crisp high end, the tight bottom end, and the nice, tapered midrange... just like the girl next door. Range Li'l Leo does it all, and them some. Gain on low, Tone at 11 o'clock, you're Buddy Holly... Gain on medium, Tone at 3 o'clock, you're Chuck Berry... Gain on high, Tone at 12 o'clock, a Byrdland and a Glock 10 and you're Ted Nugent... Okay, so maybe not. But if you want the classic sounds of American rock & roll without the potential for injury to your wallet or back that a large tube amp presents, then Li'l Leo is the ticket. Reliability Li'l Leo is hand wired, by people, not machines. From our high quality 3PDT switches to the custom made machined aluminum knobs, every component is the finest available, making ToadWorks Pedals the most well-built and reliable effect pedals in the world. How is it made? Design ToadWorks Li'l Leo is a true American overdrive designed to provide a crisp, clear distortion, just like Leo used to make. Li'l Leo makes it easy to emulate the early sounds of rock & roll, yet remains versatile enough to cover the hard rock sounds of the last 20 years. Using a transistor based design, ToadWorks has created something few dare to attempt - a solid, reliable, affordable alternative to diming your high-wattage tube amplifier. Operation The switch turns the effect on and off, the left most knob ("Gain") controls the amount of overdrive present in the signal, the middle knob ("Tone") changes the "flavor" (pretend it's a hot dog: to the left = Nathan's, to the right = Pink's), and the far-right knob controls the overall signal level. Each pedal is carefully manufactured by hand, using only the finest components. The box is custom made to ToadWorks specifications, the switch is the highest quality 3PDT we could find, the jacks are Switchcraft. The knobs are solid machined aluminum, custom made specifically for ToadWorks. Capacitors are a mix of mylar & electrolytic, resistors are a mix of carbon and metal film, transistors are silicon - none of these decisions was made based on cost, they were made purely for sound and reliability. ToadWorks pedals are proudly made in the USA. Discontinued - See ToadWorks Li'l Leo 4-Knob

All sound samples were recorded digitally. ToadWorks has attempted to make these sound samples as honest as possible - you hear exactly what came out of the amp.
