The Paradise Cedar incorporates Luna's
folk style cutaway body, pairing its toned maple sides and back with a solid cedar top
for a sound that's as uniquely pleasing and distinctive as the instrument's
show-stopping henna artwork. The henna design, a custom creation of renowned UK artist
Alex Morgan, is faithfully reproduced through leading-edge laser etching - in effect,
tattooing the intricate design into the instrument's wood. A maple/ rosewood/ maple
binding finishes the superb look. |
Luna's specially designed neck profile
insures a comfortable playing experience that puts challenging notes and chords within
easy reach. Luna's exclusive moon phase fretboard markers, inlaid in abalone, trace the
length of the rosewood fret board over mahogany neck. |

The Ancient Art of Henna
Ornamenting the skin with henna is
among the world's oldest known art forms. A paste is made from the henna plant (Lawsonia
Inermis) and applied to the skin in a wide array of intricate designs. The ancient
cosmetic and healing practice – known as Mehndi – is still widespread among cultures in
North Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
In today's Western world, there has
been a great resurgence in the use of henna, and Luna's Henna guitars, the first in a
series, are our tribute to this ancient feminine art form.
UK artist Alex Morgan created the
artwork especially for Luna's henna guitars.
The pattern I chose for Luna's Henna guitar
is based on the art of Medieval Spain. This culturally rich and diverse period is the
only one in which henna was grown and used as a cosmetic in Europe. Coincidentally, the
era also was historically important in the development and growing popularity of the
