The theremin was invented in 1920 by a Russian
physicist named Lev Sergeiyvich Termin (his name was later
changed to Leon Theremin). It's a unique instrument
because the Theremin is played without being touched! As a
hand approaches the antenna, the pitch gets higher.
The HIWATT engineers decided to add a new dimensions of
sound to the Theremin by adding delay to the unit. The
HIWATT Theremin has 300 Milliseconds of delay that adds
more depth and the ability to create Sci-Fi Sounds that
are from another planet!
- Controls: Level, Frequency, Delay Time (300
Milliseconds), Delay Level
- Additional Features: Single Mono Output Jack, L.E.D.
Battery Level Indicator
- Power: 9 Volt Battery
- Dimensions: (L) 6 1/4", (W) 4 3/4", (H) 2
3/4"
- Color: Black with Mirror Dome Antenna
Function Outline:
1. Level (Master Volume Control)- Turn the level
control to the right to increase the overall volume.
2. FREQ- Sets the operating frequency of the
Theremin.
3. D. Time (Delay Time)- Adjusts the delay time.
4. D. Level (Delay Volume Control)- Turn the D.
Level control to the right to increase the delay volume.
5. Antenna-The antenna controls the pitch of the
Theremin. As your hand approaches the antenna, the pitch
gets higher. As your hand leaves the antenna, the pitch
gets lower.
6. Power (Battery indicator)- Indicates that the
battery is engaged. The brightness of the indicator shows
the status of the battery life.
7. Output jack- Connect one end of an instrument
cable to the input of an amplifier and the other end to
the output of the Theremin.
How to use the HIWATT Echo Theremin:
1. Make sure that your amplifier or mixer is turned off,
and set it's volume to zero.
2. Plug one end of your instrument cable into the jack on
the Echo Theremin (this turns the Theremin on, so be sure
to remove the cable when you are finished using it to
extend battery life), and the other end of the cable into
the amplifier or mixer's input jack.
3. Turn on the amplifier or mixer. (Leave the amp or mixer
volume at zero!)
4. Turn the Theremin's level knob to the middle position
and the FREQ knob all the way to the right.
5. Turn the amplifier or mixer volume to a comfortable
level. You'll hear a very high pitched tone.
6. Now, slowly turn the FREQ knob back toward the 12 o'
clock position and stop just where you hear no sound. Your
HIWATT Echo Theremin is now set up for easy operation. Go
ahead and experiment with different hand movements and
knob positions. You can also touch the dome to get
different sounds.
7. Experiment! Try the HIWATT Echo theremin with a Wah Wah
pedal, Octave Divider, Ring Modulator or whatever other
effects you can think of!
