Over the past decade, Vince Gill has won every
award in country music. His collection of Grammies, Country Music
Association awards, and American Music awards is so extensive that
it fills several pages! One listen to his music and you can hear why
so many people make him a favored artist. His roots run deep, with a
tip of the hat to tradition. Until you get to his guitar solos - his
thick and glassy tones are totally modern, defining the sounds of
"New Country." To create this unique tone, Vince Gill
turns to EMG.
The Pro Series VG20 is the same as the one mounted on Vince Gill's
main black Strat*. Featuring EMG's EMG-S single coil pickups for a clean start, Vince
uses the SPC Presence control so he can dial-up extra output and crunch whenever he
wants. Mounted directly on a Tortoise Shell pickguard the EMG-VG20 is configured with
master volume, master tone, and the SPC replacing the standard rear tone control.
EMG-S Pickups feature a ceramic magnet that have a snappy high end with very defined mids and
lows. This is one clean system. Vince isn't only the consummate country performer, he's
a great Rock and Roll guitar player. If anybody can put a system through the changes,
it's Vince. The VG20 is perfect for the studio and even better in live performance, as
proven by Vince. Now if you could only sing like him!
Vince Gill sings with a most distinctive voice. His guitar tone
is just as distinctive, delivering the full range from classic
bright single-coil tones to round, warm solo sounds. Whether on
stage or in the studio, it delivers in the most difficult situations
with uncompromising tone, noiseless performance, and rock-solid
reliability.
