Denis uses carbon comp resistors and geniune NKT-275 germanium transistors (unlike the inferior sounding USA made copies), which he tests and selects for the very best gain structure and authentic tone.

Under ideal conditions, germanium transistors are pretty much stable, but in the gigging musician's real world they may be subjected to extreme temperature changes which over time can cause the germanium to overheat and degrade, ultimately altering the tone (like many originals). Denis has addressed this issue by installing an internal bias pot, which the guitarist can use to tweak and restore his/her tone.
